Covid Prevention Task Force announces decision to allow online liquor sales.

Army Commander General Shavendra Silva has stated that the sale of liquor through the internet will not be allowed in the island-wide travel ban currently in force in the country.

He said the request of the Excise Department in this regard was not approved by the National Operations Center for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC).

The Finance Ministry yesterday approved a proposal by the Excise Department to sell liquor through supermarket distribution services.

However, the Excise Department says that NOCPC approval is required to enable the sale of liquor online.

NOCPC Army Commander General Shavendra Silva has stated that permission will not be granted in this regard.
